As part of our renewed commitment to rewarding excellence in research, TTS will offer a number of merit-based awards to recognize Young Investigators, Allied Health Professionals, and authors from Emerging Economy Nations who present superior abstracts at the Congress. The Congress Scientific Awards are designed to help offset expenses incurred to attend the TTS Biennial Congress.

The number of awards is subject to availability of funds. The monetary value of the award will vary based on travel distance but will not exceed a maximum amount of $2,000 USD per awardee.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Congress Scientific Award, an individual must:

  • Submit at least one abstract as a presenting author
  • Be a member in good standing of TTS or have an approved membership application submitted and accepted prior to applying for the award
  • Register and attend the Congress and present the abstract in person
  • Attend the President's Session at the Congress to receive the award

Award Categories

Young Investigator Award
  • Applicant must be a trainee under the age of 35 and be within two years of completing his/her training and/or fellowship.
  • A supporting letter signed by the applicant's Training Program Director must be submitted to verify the applicant’s status as a young investigator.
Allied Healthcare Professional Award
  • Offered to individuals who have an interest in transplantation and are actively working in the field. Categories include, but are not limited to, applicants who are nurses, technicians, coordinators and physician assistants.
  • A supporting document to verify applicant’s profession as an allied healthcare professional must be submitted.
Emerging Economy Nation Award
  • Offered to individuals who are working in a full-time position in an emerging economy nation.
  • A supporting document to verify the applicant’s employment status must be submitted.

Award Attribution Process

Awardees will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants based upon the abstract's degree of excellence (top score), as determined by the Scientific Program Committee.

An applicant can receive maximum one award at each Congress.

Every effort will be made by TTS to consider gender and geographical diversity when selecting the awardees.
